      <title>Cook Commits To Sul Ross State University </title>

      <description>At a press conference held at Incarnate Word High School on April 15th, Uvaldean Sierah Alexys Cook signed her commitment to play softball for Sul Ross State University in Alpine next school year as a pitcher and first baseman. The Incarnate Word High School senior in the presence of family, friends, school administration, coaches, and teammates, was honored for her dedication to the sport of softball and to her aspirations of playing softball at the college level.  

Cook, who recently completed regular season and post season playoffs as the varsity pitcher and first baseman for the IWHS Shamrocks, is the daughter of Kevin and Sarah Cook.  She is also the granddaughter of Francisco and Norma Hidalgo and the late Thomas &amp; Gloria Cook.  She is a pitcher for the Texas Roughriders Gold Team and the Texas Roughrider Orange National Exposure Team of San Marcos.  She represented the state of Texas as a member of Team North Texas at the 2009 King Kamehameha Softball Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii where the international team brought home a silver medal this past summer.  She played softball for Uvalde High School for 3 years and was also a member of several Uvalde Little League All Star Teams throughout her youth.  

Sierah who is 18 years old is scheduled to graduate from Incarnate Word High School as a &#8220;Brain Power Graduate&#8221; on May 23rd at the University of Incarnate Word Convocation Center.  She is scheduled to begin competition play with the Sul Ross State University Lobo softball team in the fall and plans on majoring in Sports Medicine and Physical Education.

They will see aciton aciton on December 5th and 6th in San Antonio at the 2010 Pancho Clause Classic.  After the holidays, the San Marcos based team will finish up the season with a college exposure to be held in Seguin on January 2 &amp; 3.

      <description>The Texas Roughriders Gold Team has updated thier fall schedule.  The San Marcos, Texas based team is gearing up to hit a tough exposure schedule for 2009.  Don't miss out on the action...come out and watch them play.  They have already won 2nd at the Softball with Attitude tourney this season.

      <title>Tx Roughriders Gold win 2nd in San Marcos 18U Tourney</title>

      <description>The Texas Roughriders Gold team won 2nd place this past weekend in San Marcos, Texas at the "Softball with Attitude" Tournament held at Gary Complex.

The Roughriders played their first pool game against the Round Rock Crush in which they won with a score of 4-1.  In the firt bracket game of the day, the team shut out the Uvalde Explosion with a score of 6-0 and then came back also shut out the Texas Cobras with a score of 10-0.  On Sunday the team lost their next bracket game to Sizzle with a score of 6-4.  The Roughriders battled their way through the losers bracket by gaining win against the Round Rock Crush (2-1), and Adrenalin (6-0), Sizzle (4-1),  

The San Marcos based team met up with Austin Blaze in the championship game, but fell to them with a score of 3-1.  

The Texas Roughriders Gold team captured their first trophy of the fall season.  They have played two tournaments to date and have a full exposure schedule through out the rest of the fall season.  The team's next competition will be Oct 3-4 in San Marcos at their own Go-Gold tournament.</description>

      <title>Cook &amp; Team Texas brings Home Hawaii Silver</title>

      <description>Uvaldean, Sierah Cook, returned from Hawaii sporting a silver medal as one of the team members of the 2009 Elite Sports International Team Texas.  Cook along with 9 other standout softball players from across the state of Texas were chosen earlier this year to compete in the 10th annual King Kamehameha Softball College Exposure Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. 

Team Texas won three games to gain their birth to the championship round.  In game 1 of the tournament, Team Texas beat out Team Alabama 6 &#8211; 2 in which as the designated hitter, Sierah racked up one double and two singles, and 3 RBI&#8217;s.  In game 2 of the tournament, Sierah was the pitcher of record with 9 strike outs, 2 walks, and 3 hits in 7 innings of play against Team Kentucky/North Carolina/Tennessee.  In the 10 &#8211; 5 win, Cook also hit one double, 3 singles, and brought in 2 runs to assist with the win. Game three proved a great victory for Team Texas in which Sierah was again the pitcher of record with 4 strike outs, no walks, and 3 hits in 7 inning of play against Team Oklahoma.  In the 9-3 win over Team Oklahoma, Sierah earned three singles and 3 RBI&#8217;s.  

In the championship round of the tournament, Team Texas fell to Team Hawaii with a score of 6 &#8211; 1.  Team Texas was the team of record by being the only team in the tournament to score against Hawaii.  As the designated hitter, Sierah hit 3 singles in the final game of tournament. Team Texas was applauded by other teams in the tournament and was noted as the team &#8220;that brought their game&#8221; to the college exposure showcase which was held June 16 thru June 23. The coach for Team Texas was Texas Wesleyan University Softball Coach, Maddie Williams. Other teams in the tournament included USA West, USA East, California/Arizona, Hawaii II, Georgia/South Carolina, Illinois/Indiana, and USA North East.  

Sierah and her teammates also enjoyed a week long schedule of sight seeing, water sports, and shopping on the island of Oahu.  According to the 17 year old Cook, the highlight of her trip was meeting and spending time with her teammates, a tour of Pearl Harbor and meeting two Pearl Harbor survivors, and of course bringing home 2nd place to Texas.  

Cook is the daughter of Kevin and Sarah Cook and will be a senior at Incarnate Word High School this coming school year.  She is a member of the Texas Roughriders Select Travel Team of San Marcos.  She is also a volunteers her time coaching her sister&#8217;s 10 U select softball team; the San Antonio Sun Devils.  She is under the pitching instruction of Loui Aguayo of San Antonio.
