Foglesong followed with a single to score Dreher, and Shipman later drove in Foglesong with a single to give Valencia a 6-0 lead. “They’re a good softball team,” said Agoura head coach Chase Redmond. “They play good defense, they hit the ball and the pitcher almost had a no-hitter.” With two outs in the fourth, Dreher and Lindsay Clark hit consecutive singles and Fitzgerald was plunked by Lord, who was then replaced by Agoura reliever Allison Schneider. Schneider was called for an illegal pitch, which pushed home Valencia courtesy runner Sarah Solano, who had replaced Dreher. Clark came home on an RBI single by Foglesong to cap the scoring. "This team, they like being around each other and they work hard for each other and that's what it's about, teamwork," Lee said. "And enjoying each other's company and it's not always the same girl every time, it's different girls contributing." In just its second year of existence, the West Ranch program (5-21, 2-8) is in a building stage. Their season is over but coach Cassandra Perez is looking toward the future. ""It's a process," she said. "Every year we hope to get better." If she needs a blueprint for how to find success, she need look no further than across the diamond to Lee, who's coached at Valencia for 14 seasons.
