BRANDON- After being eliminated by the Lady Arrows in last year's MHSAA-softball playoffs, the Northwest Rankin Lady Cougars were determined not to let history repeat itself Tuesday when they hosted Clinton in the first round.
Their determination showed early as they scored three runs in the first inning and never trailed, defeating Clinton 6-3 to advance to a second-round matchup against Horn Lake.

BRANDON- The Lady Cougars of Northwest Rankin held on to beat the Lady Bulldogs of Brandon 3-1 in extra innings...
...The Lady Cougars lone run in regulation came in the top of the fourth when AUDREY HARTMAN crossed the plate on a Brandon error after stealing 2nd and 3rd.
The win marks the third time the Lady Cougars have defeated Brandon this season and pushes their record to 18-2.
