Lady Warriors walk off as champs
It couldn't have happened better for a team looking to build some needed momentum. And the game winning hit couldn't have come from someone more deserving.
A game winning RBI from Shelby Newhard in the bottom of the seventh propelled Wawasee to a 3-2 win over Whitko...A hit that may have shaken alot of naggin weight from the shoulders of of struggling Newhard.
" I have allot of pressure on myself to perform, and have been struggling lately" Newhard said..."But I do well under pressure. Things just came out right in that at-bat, and it's always good when those hits win games. That was big... |

Split decision in South Bend
Wawasee, after eight consecutive games against the Lady Wildcats dating back to 2003, finally broke through with a big rally in the eigth inning. After pitcher Jenny Martin retired the first two batters on fly outs to start the inning Jonna Wiggs ans Ashley Truman followed with back-to-back singles. Ashley Sharp then broke the standoff with a single driving home Wiggs. Shelby Newhard then ripped a double to the left-center field fence, driving home Truman and Sharp the 3-0 lead. |
