Touhey's homer lifts M-E in softball semifinal
Junior Megan Touhey led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a home run to right-center field, lifting the Maine-Endwell softball team to a 1-0 win over visiting Johnson City in a Section 4 Class A semifinal on Wednesday afternoon.
The top-seeded Spartans (20-3) advance to face second-seeded Corning West (20-4) in the sectional title game at 2 p.m. Saturday at the BAGSAI Complex in Nimmonsburg.

Freshman second baseman Chelsey Kuzel played a key part in two big innings Saturday, helping Johnson City past visiting Corning East 11-4 in a Section 4 Class A quarterfinal softball game
Kuzel finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs, and she came through with two-run singles in both the first and third innings as the fourth-seeded Wildcats (12-10) scored five runs in each en route to an 11-0 lead through three innings.
Chelsey West also helped lead the JC attack, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
