I'm done and so happy! I went to Ohio University on a recruiting trip a couple weeks ago and I loved the school, loved the coach, loved the players and just pretty much felt like it was the right place for me. | Pegasus 18U Surf City Schedule 10-17 and 10-18
So after 4 weeks in a boot to let my ankle heal I am right back in the middle of it all again. The first round of high school soccer play-offs start Tuesday and the second round is on Thursday. Then we hop in the car and drive down to sunny California for softball games on Saturday and Sunday before driving back to be at school on Monday. It has been one of those super busy kind of years.

I'm really excited that I got cleared to start practicing again today. I have been nursing a mild LisFranc's sprain of my left foot and have been faithfully wearing a boot for the last three weeks. The patience has paid off and the boot is now gone. I have to work my way back in to things over the next week or so, but I'm cleared to start practicing and playing again. Okay, it's been nearly a month since I've posted an update. I'll try and explain why but the short story is that I'm recovering from a mild LisFranc's sprain.
On the Tuesday after my last post we beat Pleasant Grove and everything was fine, but in the first few minutes of the Brighton game two days later I jumped up and deflected a shot over the goal and when I came down my whole left foot went totally numb. I'm pretty beat up. The top of my right foot is sore from punting, the bottom of my left foot hurts and I don't know why, my ribs are bruised, my back is sore and my throat is swollen inside and out. It has been a season of elbows, knees, and sucker punches so far and we are only half way finished.

I got home from USA-ASA Nationals on Sunday night and Monday morning I got up and headed to the high school for soccer try-outs. I've played soccer since I was 5 and just felt like I needed to finish my senior year. Hell week is Hell week. We have a practice in the morning and another practice at night for five days in a row and we run and sprint about 3-4 miles each practice (no exaggeration!). Well, we finished 5th out of 139 teams. Just like it was in 2005 when I played on a team that finished 4th in Nationals, the finish always sounds impressive but the last loss remains as a source of irritation. We ended up losing to Florida Demarini 3-5 in a game where we gave up 3 runs in the first inning on three errors. Las Vegas - Raven King went five of six at the plate for Pegasus scoring all five times she got on base in Friday's games. Down 0-1 against the Lady Louisville Sluggers of Kentucky, teammate Maddie Robb hit a two run shot to put Pegasus ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the 5th inning. Raven followed her teammate with a solo shot to make it 3-1. We drew SoCal Artesia Punishers in the first round of the play-off bracket and beat them 7 to 4 last night. I got to see my old friend Dana Garcia who plays for the Punishers and we talked after the game. I was hoping we'd run into each other a little later in the tournament, but what are you going to do? I didn't start but came into the game midway and had a single and some plays at first.

We won our pool by beating teams from California and Nebraska by scores of 10-2 and 8-4 respectively. I pitched the first four innings of the first game before Jachim closed out the game for me. I only got up twice but hit the ball hard in both at bats having a gap line drive base hit stolen on a really good play by the right fielder. | Pegasus wins Gold Bracket at Triple Crown World Series
We captured the World Series title with 8-5 and 9-1 wins over Utah rival Bad to the Bone in Park City today.
I picked up the win in the first game but did not bat. In the second game I played first base and had an RBI two-out double.

Gold Bracket play started today and the competition got tougher as only the top two teams from nine pools make it to the Gold Bracket. After posting a perfect 4-0 record in pool play on Tuesday and Wednesday, we started the day with a familiar tough opponent Utah Shock. We beat them 2-0. They are always tough. | Pegasus wins Firecracker; Begin play in TCS World Series
We won the Salt Lake Firecracker over the weekend with a perfect 6-0 record. We beat the Flames in the semi-finals, then Bad to the Bone in the winner’s bracket game, then the Flames again in the championship.
I pitched one game early Saturday morning that we won pretty easily, then pretty much finished the day at 1st base. We ended up playing four games on Saturday and it was over 100 degrees.

Utah Pegasus 18U successfully defended their Utah ASA 18U Accelerated State Championship on Saturday by defeating Bad to the Bone 5-3 in seven innings to finish with a perfect 6-0 record in the tournament.

The last time Raven King played with her Utah Pegasus teammates in league play, her solo homerun in the final inning sealed a 4-3 victory over Utah Pegasus 16U. On Tuesday, July 7th, Raven did it again against the Salt Lake Flames.

Utah Pegasus 18U won pool P in the Louisville Slugger Tournament in Colorado before the tournament was cancelled due to rain. Thursday's first game ended in a disappointing loss to Tennessee Fury 2-4 but Pegasus rebounded later that night to beat CA American Athletics 3-1 and capture first place in pool P with a 5-1 record. After two consecutive years as the Varsity Offensive MVP, junior Raven was named Lone Peak HS Varsity MVP for the 2009 season. Lone Peak finished with a 10-12 record and one spot out of the state play-offs in spite of impressive victories over teams such as Hunter and 3A State Champion Bear River. Well, after going 8-6 before Easter break and having only really been soundly beaten in just one game, we came back and went 2-6 and got solidly beat in three games.
We finished fourth in our region but didn't make the State play-offs for a second year in a row. We were mostly snowed out or rained out over the past two weeks. We played one game against undefeated Pleasant Grove on Thursday in between snow storms and lost 0-3 in the rain. The newspaper reported that it was 42 degrees at the game. I struck out 10, walked 4, and gave up 3 hits in six innings. We only committed two errors but the second one ended up costing us. | Raven King improves ACT score to 27!
Well I'm feeling a lot better about my ACT results. I took the test last December and was pretty shocked and disappointed with my score of 24 overall. I know 24 isn't something to be ashamed of, it's just that I take lots of Honors and AP classes and my sister who is 13 months older than me scored 31 twice. So, yeah, there's a bit of a competition there. I'm still not close to 31, but I'm pretty happy with 27. I'll take the test again in the Fall just to see if I can improve some more. The... |

Well, after the high of beating Hunter on Monday, we blew a 2-0 lead in the top of the 6th on Tuesday against Lehi. A ground ball to second got bobbled, tossed to first, and dropped that would have ended the inning gave Lehi the room they needed to pull even. We played away at 6-3 Hunter who had a big 2-0 win over number one Bingham last week and we won 4-0. We were feeling a little down before the game when McKenzie (who plays short and hits 4th) showed up to the team lunch on crutches. Playing at Hunter is always tough because they have pretty big crowds and lots of the boys hang out and make fun of you and get in your face all game, and missing a key player wasn't going to make it any easier. After two frustrating losses Friday morning to Murray and Olympus, I took the mound for a third time and shut-out Bear River 2-0 in seven innings. It was obviously the highlight of the day.

It was a pretty busy winter. I started by attending a two day camp at the University of Utah, then I went to a two day camp at Salt Lake Community College a week later. Then two weeks later I went to a two day camp at Utah State and I finished with a one day Showcase camp at Cal State Long Beach. I took advantage of a family event in San Diego last weekend and got to see some great softball. We were in San Diego for my cousin Austin's graduation from the Marines and so I was able to talk my parents into staying in San Diego an extra day and watch some great softball.
