AZ Power wins 18 Gold TCS Sparkler - Colorado 2010 AZ Power went 10-1 to win the 18 Gold division in the TCS Sparkler for 2010. The girls played hard all week. Atfer going 3-1 in Pool Play they placed 2nd in their pool and dropped into the 18 Gold winners bracket (18 Gold Mt Elbert Bracket). The girls went on to go undefeated in the winners bracket and win the whole tournament. This is a team a very talented young girls that love to play softball and have alot of fun. |
 | 5A-II SEMIFINALS O'Connor vs. 1 Centennial -- O'Connor almost no-hit Centennial the first time around. Can Centennial win twice tonight to get to the finals? O'Connor has just about everything. Its pitching is helped by a solid defense. And its bats just can't stop making contact. Centennial has to figure our Sam Bedker or it won't matter how well Morgan Montemayor pitches. |
 | O'Connor upsets No. 1 Centennial in 5A-II softball In the end, it felt surreal. A player of short words made them even shorter.
And you couldn't blame Phoenix Sandra Day O'Connor junior pitcher Sam Bedker for it. She was going up against the potent lineup of No. 1 Peoria Centennial and her team was facing arguably the best pitcher in Class 5A Division II, Morgan Montemayor.
So after Bedker pitched a one-hitter, going 6 1/3 innings without a hit, and No. 4 Sandra Day O'Connor held on for a 2-1 win Saturday in a 5A-II winner's bracket game at home, her short words were understood.
When asked about working on a no-hitter into the seventh... |
 | O'Connor drops Centennial Eagles hurler takes no-hitter into seventh against 5A-II's top seed
Opposites didn’t attract Saturday at Sandra Day O’Connor High School.
On one side of the pitching circle was one of 5A-II’s hardest throwing softball pitchers - Centennial’s Morgan Montemayor. On the other side was Sandra Day O’Connor’s Samantha Bedker whose pitch speed wouldn’t be confused with Nolan Ryan.
In the end, it was Bedker’s soft tossing that pulled the No. 4-seed Eagles into the 5A-II semifinals with a 2-0 win against the top-seeded Coyotes. The O’Connor junior was two-outs shy of a no hitter before shortstop... |

 | Relentless Skyhawks fall short O'Connor takes share of first in Norhtwest region
Deer Valley softball needed a quick answer to Sandra Day O’Connor’s 5-run third.
The Skyhawks retort was a home run from pitcher Jenny Tyler. Two batters later, shortstop Lauren Haeger answered with a 2-run home run to get Deer Valley to within two. Center fielder Gennelle Carrizosa added a fourth run in the inning, scoring on third baseman Dana Cruickshank’s RBI single to right.
But that’s as close as Deer Valley would get. Each time the Eagles opened a lead, the Skyhawks battles back to within one, but inevitably would leave the tying... |
