Erika shows lots of speed at Dahlonega 23U tourney
Erika Hoffner tacks on a couple more triples to her team-leading count as she extends would-be doubles into a three-base hit. Any drive hit right of center field to the fence is a triple for the speedy center fielder. Trailing 5-0 in game 2 against the East Cobb Bullets, Erika stood in after a first inning slap single and drove a deep line drive to the right-center gap that hit the fence, and she sprinted around for a stand-up triple while driving in 2 runs to begin a rally. Erika Hits 3 for 5 at Atlanta Legacy
Erika Hoffner of the GA Fire Lilburn 18G had a great offensive day at the Atlanta Legacy Showcase in Woodstock, GA on July 16. In the two games, she hit 3 for 5 with two walks. Her defense was spot-on, too. Playing center field for the Fire, Erika recorded two put outs, with a throw to home to nab a runner trying to score. The speedster also put a couple of stolen bases added to her daily stats. The Fire will play three games Saturday, and one on Sunday.
GA Fire off to Hot Start
Erika Hoffner and the GA Fire Lilburn 18G is 2-0 in pool play at the Fireworks in Aurora, CO. They beat the Hawaii Pearls 8-1 and the California Renegades 8-4. In the come-from-behind win against the Renegades, Erika started an 8-hit 6th inning rally with a single and eventually scored as the first of 6 runs to win the game.
Erika Hits 2 for 2 in Finale at Southeastern Exposure
Vestavia Hills, AL: Erika Hoffner was 2 for 2 at the plate with a couple of singles in the GA Fire Lilburn's 16-2 walloping of the Mayhem. The Fire put in a good performance for the tourney. They will be playing national qualifiers the next two weekends. Erika was flawless in the field for the tournament making play after play from short stop and center field. Erika Hoffner and the GA Fire Play for a Berth
Auburndale, FL: Erika Hoffner and the GA Fire Lilburn will begin their quest for a berth in the 18-Gold USA/ASA National Championship to be held in Marietta, GA this Friday at the qualifier tournament in Auburndale. In attendance will be many college coaches, as well as some of the best softball teams in the southeast. Erika will be showcasing her talents at short stop and center field.
Erika Hoffner Selected as 2010 Chattahoochee Captain
Erika Hoffner of Chattahoochee High School in Johns Creek, GA was selected at the Captain of the 2010 Lady Cougars. Erika will begin her senior year season in August 2010. Softball season for Georgia High Schools is in the fall of the school year. Erika was awarded the Defensive Player of the Year award for her performance in 2009. She also led in 5 offensive categories, and was in the top 5 of all offensive categories. Having earned three varsity letters, the soon-to-be four-year letterman will be leading the Lady Cougars at short stop.
Erika Hoffner and GA Fire Moreno to Host Gold Cup #2
The Georgia Fire Moreno 18-Gold will host the second in the Gold Cup Series in Lilburn, GA on April 16-18. The friendly tournament featuring the best of Metro Atlanta will be played at Lions Club Park, 5500 Rockbridge Road, Lilburn, GA. Erika's schedule begins on Friday April 16 with a double header as they play the Georgia Elite Sampson at 6:30 pm, then the Georgia Impact Miller at 8:30 pm for the nightcap.
Erika Shines at Gold Cup #1
The Georgia Fire Moreno 18-Gold will host the second in the Gold Cup Series in Lilburn, GA on April 16-18. The best of metro Atlanta will be represented at the friendly tournament. Erika Hoffner will be starting at center field for the Fire. Erika had a strong showing in Gold Cup #1 in Sandy Springs, GA on March 26-28. Making play after play in center field, she single-handedly held opposing runners from scoring. GA Fire Moreno Takes 3rd in ASA Season Opener
Erika Hoffner shined at short stop at the ASA Season Opener in McDonough, GA. With her sure-glove, the fleet-footed Chattahoochee HS star ranged all over the left side of the infield stopping grounder after hard-hit grounder. She single-handedly kept the Georgia Impact at bay as they threatened twice with the tying run on third with spectacular plays.
Erika Hoffner Receives All-Region Honors
In the most competitive region in the state of Georgia, Erika Hoffner received All-Region honors for the 2009 high school softball season. Erika was selected as a Second-Team All-Region 7 AAAAA Second Baseman. Georgia Region 7 numbers some of the most talented teams in Georgia, including the state champions, and many college ball-signees. There were at least two division I signees at second base in Region 7, therefore Erika's selection as a junior was quite an accomplishment. Erika is showing off her glove, arm, and speed at center field for the Fire. The 18u-Gold team will be playing two games Friday the 8th, three games Saturday the 9th, and one game on Sunday the 10th.
Erika Hoffner Awarded Defensive Player of the Year
Erika Hoffner received the Defensive Player of the Year award for the second consecutive season at the Chattahoochee High School Softball Awards Banquet on Tuesday night November 10 in Alpharetta, Georgia. Erika played second base for the Chattahoochee Lady Cougars. Her season was highlighted with clutch plays, including diving snags all over the infield, and putting out runners with cannon throws. Erika Hoffner will attend the Gold Diamond Showcase Tournament in Chattanooga, TN October 30-November 1 with her 18u-gold travel team the Georgia Fire Lilburn. This will be Erika's second year at the fall showcase where she attended the tournament last October with the Worth Cobras 16u. Erika Hoffner of Chattahoochee High School finished out the 2009 season in the top 3 in all offensive categories. She led the team in on base percentage, triples, steals, runs, and walks. The Chattahoochee Lady Cougars traveled down state to play in the Watermellon Classic in Cordele, GA to end the month of August. Erika Hoffner, the junior 2nd baseman, posted outstanding offensive numbers hitting 7 for 15 for a .467 average. Erika also recorded 4 runs, 2 RBIs, and 4 stolen bases in the five-game tournament.
Hoffner Stars for Chattahoochee
Erika Hoffner began her Junior Year Season at Chattahoochee High School, Johns Creek, GA, with wins over Riverwood and East Paulding High Schools in the Marietta Invitational. Hoffner was 4 for 7 at the plate for the two games, and led the Lady Cougars to a 10-0 victory over Riverwood and a 19-3 win over East Paulding. The Cobras face the Huntsville (AL) Sparks on Friday, July 31st, after a 10-1 win against the Roseville (CA) Heat, and a 3-1 win against the Minnesota Northern Extreme in bracket play. The Worth Cobras 16U Fastpitch Softball Club of Atlanta, GA will be attending the USA/ASA 16U National Championship in Sioux Falls, SD on July 27 through August 2. They will be showcasing their 13 juniors and seniors as the Cobras play in the 164-team tournament for the national championship. Having played an aggressive schedule which included the ASA Hall of Fame Tournament, the Cobras traveled thousands of miles to attain the goal of a berth in the Nationals. Erika Hoffner and her Atlanta Worth Cobras 16U teammates will attend the USA/ASA National Championship in Sioux Falls, SD on July 27. The speedy center fielder will be showcasing her skills for over 300 colleges coaches and scouts from all over the USA. Erika, known for speed and a sure-glove, highlighted the summer season with game-saving sliding catches and cannon-throws to home for double plays from her center field position. Pool Play Schedule Posted for Sioux Falls
Erika Hoffner and the Team Worth Cobras of Atlanta, GA will open pool play at the USA/ASA 16U Nationals on Monday July 27th at 12 noon at Sherman Park in Sioux Falls, SD. They will play their second game Monday night at 10 pm to complete the pool games of the National Championships and will begin double-elimination on Wednesday July 29th. Erika Hoffner was honored as the Defensive Player of the Year at the Chattahoochee High School Softball Awards Banquet on November 4th. Hoffner is the starting short stop and lead-off hitter for the Alpharetta, GA school. After a stellar season highlighted by clutch play all over the infield and at times into the outfield, Hoffner was voted the best defensive player by the coaching staff.
