The Gaffney High softball team needs to hit the ball better to move forward in the playoffs.
The No. 2 seed Lady Indians open district play Thursday at home against fourth-seeded Lancaster at 6:30 p.m. Wren, the district's top seed, battles Aiken in the other district opener.

Lady Indians come up short in championship game

Gaffney High softball coach Kelly Ellis knew beating rival Boiling Springs twice wouldn't be easy.
The Lady Indians rallied to beat Boiling Springs 6-4 in the first game but ran out of steam and hits in dropping the championship game of the Gene Lee Memorial Tournament 3-1 on Saturday.
The loss snapped the Lady Indians' four-game win streak.

NSA Sweet16 Showcase Oct 2007 (Palmetto Wildfire)
The Palmetto Wildfire 18u softball team traveled to Salisbury, NC on Oct 20/21 to play in the NSA College Showcase featuring 16 of the areas best NC/SC 18u travel teams. The Palmetto Wildfire, with Gaffney varsity player Lana Ward, were undefeated in bracket play. Wildfire defeated the 18u Flames 4-2 to capture the showcase championship on Sunday. |
