The Lady Mustangs downed Needville 8-3 in their home opener Feb. 16 before winning three of six games at the Bryan-College Station Tournament. West upset Tomball 8-5 behind three hits and three RBIs by pitcher Taylor Yancey, who also recorded the victory.

The Lady Mustangs earned a big 9-3 road victory Wednesday night.
West, 5-3 on the season, got a winning effort on the mound from Sarah Rohmer (5 IP, 2 Ks). At the plate, Cydnee Sanders was 4 for 5 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored, Taylor Yancey was 3 for 4 with a double and a run scoredand an RBI, Kaylee Kucharski was 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI and Chelsea Lemons was 2 for 2 with a three-run double.

The Lady Mustangs squeaked by Lockhart 7-6 in the team’s opener at the Bryan Tournament.
The game was the first of two at the tournament for West who went 2-0 on the first day.
Taylor Yancey pitched a complete game while getting three strikeouts.
Stephanie Garrells went 2-3 in the contest. Heather Peacock went 2-4 while Yancey was 3-4 with a double and two RBIs. Kaylee Kucharski also chipped in going 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI'S.

MWHS Softball had 4 softball players awarded the Girls Got Game/NFCA Scholar-Athlete award for the 2008-2009 school year. They had to maintain a 3.5 or better GPA for the year. Kaylee was the only Senior to recieve this award!
NFCA is the National Fastpitch Coaching Association.

Kaylee Kucharski was hot at the plate this weekend going 6 for 8 at the plate with 4 doubles! It was a good break open weekend and good to get some games in to get ready for all of the Fall exposures.

For her last year of tournament ball Kaylee Kucharski plan's to stay on the Texas Peppers (peacock).
Kaylee will continue to reign behind the plate, get more time at third and stay hot at the plate. She batted in the .500's all summer and had numerous singles and doubles and even a couple of triples. One of which was up against the Gold Coast Hurricanes pitchers! Our team struggled this weekend in Oklahoma and we only scored three runs in two games.

The team came out hitting in the first inning scoring two runs. Kaylee Kucharski had two sac fly's to score two and an attempted sac bunt that ended up a triple on an error and scoring two more runs. The Magnolia West Lady Mustangs won the school’s first-ever tournament Saturday, taking the title in Schulenberg.The Lady Mustangs went undefeated all weekend. The mustangs scored 34 runs and only allowed 5 runs all weekend.

The Magnolia West Lady Mustangs earned a pair of 10-0 run-rule wins in opening-day play at the Schulenberg Tournament Thursday.

The Lady Mustangs got seven strong innings from pitcher Taylor Yancey in a 7-2 win over Clear Lake. Yancey gave up three hits and struck out 10 batters.

We had our first Varsity scrimmage. Although we lost to the Woodlands it was a pretty good game.
I was batting in the four hole and hit a very deep sac fly to score a run and then my next at bat I was hit by a pitch in the elbow. I also had a double play while catching.

Kaylee Kucharski and the Magnolia West Lady mustangs played in their first Varsity high school softball preseason tournament.
We did okay and faced some 5A teams and a home school team. We lost 3 and then we won two. I hit awesome though and batted .800! I almost got my first over the fence home run (it hit the bottom of the fence and it was a bullet. In a regular high school field it would have been over! I got to play third one game and had no errors. I caught the rest of the time. Hopefully... |

The Lady Mustang Softball team adopted two families in the Magnolia area for Christmas. They worked hard to get everything the family needs to have a happy holiday including clothes, toys and food.

Kaylee has attended several camps this winter. So far she has attended Nicholls State University and Texas State camp. In January she will be attending McNeese University camp and OSU softball camp. She is working hard with hitting drills daily and is practicing at open field at her high school Magnolia West. She has also been catching for the high school pitcher at her lessons after school. Her goal is to get an award in their first varsity season this year! |

| I had a great weekend at the Elite Showcase!
I had a great weekend at the Elite Showcase. Although we had no games at the main complex we did awesome as a team. The Avengers wents 4-1 and I had a great weekend of hits. I was really driving the ball deep. I also threw out runners and calling my own game was awesome. I can't wait for next weekend in Mustang Oklahoma and hope we do great again as a team. |

The Avengers (sonny) team went 3-2 this weekend. We beat the Dallas Mustangs, Lindale Heat, and Texas Blaze.
I had some great at bats and hits. I caught all of in all of the games that were won.

I am ready to start my Junior season of Fall ball at Cy Fair Tx Dyess Park. Magnolia West will be know as Westside and our colors are black and silver. We will have our first Varsity team and our Jv will nclude alot of new Freshman.

| Kaylee did her Summer workout!
Kaylee worked out all summer at the gym, while she played and worked out with her summer team.
But it was a payoff today!
She finished FIRST out of all of the softball class in her mile of 7.34 in the mid day Texas heat of 95%.
She did this just after running 10-200 hundreds and the regular off season workout!
She even impressed her brother as he and his teammates practiced football for tomorrows scrimmages! Jacob stated "she was lapping them and leading the pack"! |

Kaylee had tryouts on Saturday the 15th for the Texas Avengers Gold team. The following day they had their first practice!
She hit very well and showed her skills on the field. Kaylee will be playing with the Avengers Gold for the 08-09 season. This is a great leap for her Junior year. |

The North American Fastpitch Association’s (NAFA) 18U Elite National Tournament is in full swing on ballfields across Sulphur this week. Many teams from across the nation are playing fastpitch softball in NAFA’s tournament, including the two teams pictured: LA United (red) out of Lafayette, Louisiana, and the Bat Busters (black) out of Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas.

| Batbusters Win again!
The Fort Worth Batbusters (Sonny) are on a roll at NAFA Nationals in Sulphur. The defeated the Sugarland Heat 7-3 on 8/30/08. Next up we will be playing the Bad Attitude gold on Thursday morning. The bats were hot during the Heat game and everyone contributed to the great defense and offense during the game. Kaylee and the Batbusters played the Bombers yesterday in their first bracket game.
After getting down by three runs in the first inning the Batbusters never gave up. We had runners on 2nd and third and Kaylee came up to bat. The Fort Worth Batbusters (Sonny) started play Monday strong. Our bats were HOT!
They defeated the Orange Crush(Jaynes)team 6-2 and then went on to face the Texas Starz Black later int he day. They defeated the Starz 4-0 and next was the La Rebel team and we took a loss of 4-1. Kaylee Kucharski and the rest of the Ft. Worth Batbusters (Sonny) will play at the ASA 16U Regional Qualifier in LaPorte, TX this coming weekend. They will begin Saturday right into bracket play at 10:45 am against the Avengers-Hernandez. The Fort Worth Batbuster (Sonny) and Kaylee ad a wonderful week in Colorado. The Place second in the 16u bracket of the Colroado Sparkler. The bats were hot and Kaylee had excellent execution. She only struck out one time the entire week and had doubles and single all week long. She did an awesome job calling all of the games in pool and bracket play. Kaylee Kucharski continues to amaze her coaches and teammates as she calls all of her own games. Kaylee and the Ft. Kaylee and Whitney are both on Fort Worth Batbusters-Sonny. They are both attending the Pitchers camp at Abeline Christian University. Kaylee will be pitching for WHitney and will also be taking an unofficial visit of the campus on Tuesday. After that we are off to an NAFA Qualifier in Pasadena Texas. |

Softball Team Brings Home a Trophy!
The MWHS JV Softball Team won the Consolation Trophy at the Schulenburg Varsity Tournament. There was a total of 32 Varsity teams participating.
The Lady Mustangs went 4-1. After dropping the first game by two runs the Lady Mustangs came back and won four in a row to become the consolation winners.

The Lady Mustangs lost to Episcopal's varsity 5-0 March 20 and then lost to A&M Consolidated 6-16 on March 23.
The team placed 2nd in the Bryan Jv Tournament. The team defeated Montgomery 15-1. Kaylee Kucharski went 2-3 with three RBI'S.
The team then defeated Bryan 18-8 with Heather Peacock going 3-3 with two RBI'S and Chelsea Lemons we 2-3 with a homerun.

The Lady Mustang freshman team went to the Woodlands/College park JV tournament Feb.17 and came away with 2nd Place after beating Pasadena and College Park by the same score 16-1 .
Audrey Jones (1-0) and Brittany Gore(1-0) both came away with the win. Kaylee Kucharski went 4-5 with six RBI's in two games. The team lost to the Woodlands in the championship game 0-14.

MAGNOLIA WEST (7-7)
The Lady Mustangs lost to Ft. Bend Travis 4-1 March 9.
The team bounced back during the Waller JV Tournament March 10 with a 14-1 blow out of Waller. Chelsea Lemons, Brittany Gore, and Kaylee Kucharski combined to go 7-9 at the plate. Gore (3-0) was the winning pitcher.
The team also beat Tarkington 7-3 to win the Consolation Bracket. Audrey Jones had a triple and three RBIs. Jones (2-1) was the winning pitcher.
