 | It's Softball Weather!! 12.5 inches of Snow in North Texas
Ok, For three scrimmages I've pitched in 40 degree weather and now we are getting 12.5 inches of snow in the North Texas area. But it suppose to be 50 on Saturday for the next set of scrimmages wel never got to 40's so no scrimmage. Season scheduled to start on Tuesday against Keller. |

| Dallas Tigers enter final week of Fall Showcase Season
Samantha and the Dallas Tigers returned from Ronald McDonald with a successful run through excellent competition. Samantha was 3-1 while pitching in 4 of the 5 games. The Tigers would like to thank the numerous coaches who attend and watched their games over the 3 days of the showcase. Also we would like to thank the all the field crews and volunteers who were able to get all the fields playable after the Houston area received 3 to 4 inches of rain on Thursday night prior to the Friday start. |

This is their first pool game in the USSSA 18u Major World Series. They will take on the Oklahoma Ultimate at 1:15pm on Tuesday and then the Texas Travelers Wardlow at 3pm on Wednesday. Dallas Tigers Gold Sonny dropped a heartbreaker Sunday morning to Texas Comets Gold 1-0 after recording three more wins on Saturday in the Gold Regional Qualifer in San Antonio over TX Bomb Squad, Alvin No Fear, TX Peppers Gold after they dropped their opening game against the Texas Glory Gold Adkins then came back to finish off MC Elite late on Friday or very very early Saturday morning.. | Dallas Tigers Gold Sonny finish tied for 17th in Sparkler Gold Bracket
The Dallas Tigers Gold Sonny ended the long 4th of July week in Colorado with a 17th place finish in the Gold Bracket of the Gold Division of the Sparkler. The team finish with a 5 and 3 record for the pool and bracket play. Samantha also participated in the All-Star and All-American games picking up a win in the All-American game. She was 2-0-1 in the actual Sparkler tournament games.

The Dallas Tigers went 3-1 in pool L to finish in second place. They will enter bracket play on Thursday in the Gold Bracket of the Colorado Sparkler. Samantha had on win and a save. After going 2 for 2 at the plate and pitching two shutout innings that had some excitement, Samantha was selected to participate in one of the four All-American games to be played on Thursday night at the Christopher Complex. Samantha will be part of the original Dallas Tigers Softball Team. The prestigous Dallas Tigers Baseball Club is moving into the Softball world in a big way. Samantha and her teammates from the former Texas Avengers Gold - Sonny are now the first team for this new organization. The Dallas Tigers support will provide these players more opportunities and resources in the highly competive Gold division.

Well, here it is. Overall, it was a disappointing year for the district as far as the postseason goes, but the regular season was undoubtedly dominated by Ryan and Guyer. Even third-place Little Elm couldn't knock off either in two tries against each team.

| Ryan to face Aledo in first round of playoffs
Samantha and the Lady Raiders will face Aledo in a three game series at Colleyville Heritage softball complex. The series will begin Thursday night at 7:30pm with the next game scheduled for Friday night at 730. And the if game scheduled for Saturday at 2pm.
Ryan comes into the playoffs as the number two seed and Co-Champ from district 5-4A. Ryan lost a coin toss for seeding. Aledo is coming in as the number 3 seed out of district 6-4A after dropping a playoff with Azle for seeding. |

The Ryan Lady Raiders defeated the Guyer Lady Wildcats on Friday night at Guyer High. The win gave the Raiders a share of District 5-4A title. The Raiders are now three time district champs, having won the last two years out-right. Samantha and the Lady Radiers will travel across town Friday night to face the Guyer Lady Wildcats for a share of the district championship. Samantha entered the game in the 4th inning with the Raiders having scored two runs on starter Tara Tague and runners at second and third with one out. The Lady Raiders won a tight game 3 to 2 against Wichita Falls High last night. Samantha earned the save by striing out four of the last six batters to close out the last inning and third in relief of Tara Tague.

The north wind and cold blew in force on Tuesday night in Wichita Falls. When the temp dropped 30 degrees after the 4th inning, the Lady Raiders turned up the heat and scored 11 runs to run rule the Wichita Falls Raiders 13-0. Samantha had a two hit, eleven strike outs performance to take control of the game from the mound. She had six strike outs in a row in the first and second innings of the shortened five inning contest. |

I had a real good day at the McNeese State pitching and hitting camp. I got to pitch to my Avengers teammate Kaylie Kukarschi. It was a long quick trip but very informative. McNeese gave me some great pointers on the mental game which I look forward to using.

Samantha and the Denton Ryan Raiders will be in Round Rock, Texas this weekend January 10 and 11. Their pool games were against Cedar Park and against Austin Bowie Black "A". Samantha beat Cedar Park and Tara Tague lost to Bowie 1-0. In bracket games Samantha won her game which was a run rule after 3 innings with 8 strike outs and only faced 10. Tara went 0-2 losing a heart breaker to Plano East in the cold Saturday night.

Samantha and numerous Ryan softball players have been a consistant fan base for the Ryan Football team as they have made their run deep into the Texas 4A playoffs. Even with this being Thanksgiving week, a number of them are planning on traveling to Lubbock to support their team against Wollford Frenship on Friday night. |
| Off Season Builds Champions
Samantha and her high school team mates are working this offseason to continue the tradition at Ryan High of Champions. Only three months till the beginning of the high school season here in Texas.
Samantha will be taking her SAT and ACT test the first two Saturday's in December.
Keep an eye out as Samantha will be participating in winter camps over the next couple of months. |

 | Cap Placed on Successful Fall Season with Win in Last Game
The Avengers Gold Sonny put a capper on the 2008 Fall Showcase season with a decisive win over Lethal Weapon on Sunday afternoon. Samantha set the tone by shutting them down in the first inning 1,2 and 3. The offense got cranked up scoring 4 in the bottom to put the game out of reach. Samantha and Elizabeth finshed the next 3 innings off giving the Avengers a 7-1 win.
Keep a look out for Samantha and her Ryan High teammates as they start 2009's run to the playoffs in January.

| Samantha Post Two Wins in the Elite Showcase
Samantha Betts and Avengers Gold Sonny were 4-1 this weekend at the Diamond Elite Showcase tournament in Plano, TX. Samantha pitched in three of the teams wins earning two wins and no losses. One of the wins was a no-hit shutout over Texas Swat and the other win with the support of her teammates was over the Texas Blaze Prizno by a score of 3-2.

After Homecoming last week, I spent most of the week looking at my Senior ring catalog. Placed the order yesterday, after my dad went through a couple of days getting over sticker shock. He still remembers the days of when the ring was less than $75.

Well the day is now upon me and my teammates at Ryan High. Fall Ball started with us playing Little Elam and Krum tonight Wed. Sept. 24 at the Ryan High Field - Tina Minke. The team swept the double header. I recorded 6 strikeouts in three innings against Little Elm and had three more in 2 innings against Krum.

| Hurricane Ike blows into North Texas and cancels Avengers opening Tournament
The Avengers Gold Sonny and I will have to wait a couple weeks to start their Gold Fall Season as Hurricane Ike has come to North Texas as a Tropical Storm. Expected rain and high winds caused the tournament to be cancelled at Craig Ranch.

Samantha will be attending the Dallas TPS TOP96 camp next week prior to participating with her Batbuster team in the Elite Summer Showcase in Plano July 25-27. The University of Tulsa and other colleges will be in attendance at the TOP96 camp. The Showcase game times should be available later this week. |

Samantha will be attending the North Texas pitching and catching camp Monday and Tuesday July 14/15. This continues her busy summer with the Fort Worth Batbusters - Sonny. They just finished the Region 7 regional tournament in La Porte. While unsuccesful this weekend Samantha and the team still played very hard. Look for Samantha and the other Batbusters this weekend in La Porte at the Little Cedar Bayou Softball Complex. The Batbusters are looking to conitnue their succesful Summer tour, over the last 6 weeks they have finished no lowere than 3rd. | Batbusters complete successful Sparkler 2nd in Long's Peak Bracket
The Fort Worth Batbusters had a successful week long run in Colorado at the Sparkler end with a second place finish to the California Tornadoes. The team and Samantha had a great time going undefeated until the Championship. The Batbusters and Tornadoes played two epic games with the team from California coming out on top. | Batbusters - Sonny take 2nd in Ft. Worth Metro
Samantha and the Batbusters came up just a little short this week in Fort Worth Metro finishing second to Texas Glory - Foutch. This continued the successful run through the last three tournaments with two seconds and one third.
Now this week is all on focus for the Triple Crown Sparkler and NFCA showcase camp.

The Fort Worth Batbusters - Sonny and Samantha had a very successful weekend at the ASA 16uA National Qualifer. The team finished second to Texas Travelers - Beard. These two teams topped a very competitive field of 23 teams. The teams first met in the finals of the winner's bracket on Sunday afternoon with the Travelers coming out on top giving the Batbusters their first loss of the tournament. Samantha will be attending the Texas State Bobcat summer camp the week of June 16 to June 18. The Fort Worth 16a metro tournament will require Samantha to leave camp early as the tournament is starting on Wednesday June 18. |

Samantha and Fort Worth Batbusters - Sonny are playing this week in the Fort Worth Metro. After winning the first two games Wednesday night the tournament was delayed by rain on Thursday. So tonight, the Batbusters take on Team Texas at 6:45. With a win, the Texas Glory - Foutch team will be next. After their successful weekend second place finish at the 16U ASA National Qualifer, Samantha and Morgan Holmes are off to Stephen F. Austin's defense camp on Tuesday June 10. Samantha will focus on pitching while Morgan will focus on the outfield portion of the camp. The Batbusters and Samantha Betts are getting ready for the 16u ASA National Qualifer this weekend in Katy, Texas. The tournament looks to have 22 to 24 of the top 16u teams in the Texas region.
The Batbusters are of a successful trip to Beaumont to participate in a NAFA 18 Gold qualifer. Samantha won 2 games during the tournament. While only giving up one earned run during her wins. She also went 2 for 3 at the plate. |

Beaumont Municiple Park will be the site of the Memorial Weekend Madness tournament. The pool game schedule was released yesterday. The Fort Worth Batbusters - Sonny swept two teams from the Texas Xtreme organization on Sunday May 18. Samantha Betts and Whitney Porter combined on a seven inning win by the score of 11-1 over the 16 under Xtreme. The two only allowed 5 hits. Samantha and the Fort Worth Batbusters - Sonny will be traveling to Beaumont for the Memorial weekend NAFA 18u tournament. This is the offical start of the Batbusters summer select season. Samantha will also be attending Showcases in Colorado and Plano. In addition she is looking to attend camps at the showcases along with participating at SFA, UNT and Texas State's summer camps. |

Both Ryan teams remained undefeated in hard fought contest with the Sherman Lady Cats Saturday afternoon at Tina Minke Field in Denton. The JV team behind the strong pitching performance of Samantha Betts tied the Lady Cats 1-1. Samantha delivered 14 strike outs over 5 and 2/3 innnings. Samantha Betts had a successfule return to the mound wednesday night against the Guyer High JV. Her Ryan JV team won by a score of 6-1. Samantha recorded 10 strike outs in her four innings of work. Guyer produced only 2 hits but reached base 4 other times on Ryan errors. Samantha showed no effects of the one week lay off due to her sprained ankle. After an off week due to a sprained ankle suffered in the Frisco JV tournament game against Plano East. Samantha has been released to practice and play this week. Just in time for the final week of District against Guyer and Sherman. Denton Ryan clinched the district title last week with a five inning win against Denton High. |
Samantha Betts sees first varsity action
Ryan also got a look a junior varsity pitcher Samantha Betts who struck out two Wichita Falls batters in her one inning of play on the mound. "You could tell she was a little nervous," Coach Foutch said of Betts. "She did a great job on the mound. They did a great job of controlling the game. They did real well with control and making their pitches move around. |

Samantha will be making her first appearance into the Ryan Varsity roster on Friday March 28. Ryan will be taking on Wichita Falls High at Tina Minke Field. Ryan is 6-0 as the district begins the second half of the district season. |

Samantha Betts led the Ryan JV to another victory in sherman over the Bearcats by the score of 4-0. Samantha pitched a 3 hit shutout to run her 2008 record to 9-3 and 1 save. She had 9 strike outs and lowered her ERA to .943. She contributed on the offensive side of the game by going 1-3. Samantha continues to lead the team with a .461 batting average and a .750 on base percentage. |

The Ryan JV team defeated the Guyer JV by the score of 6 to 1. Samantha Betts continued her excellent pitching by allowing only two hits and no earned runs. She now has lowered her ERA. down to 1.01. Samantha has only given up 4 earned runs in her last 8 starts after the cold night to start the season. She continues to also lead at the plate by going 1-1 with 2 addtional walks. Samantha continued her dominance in the circle with a one hit, 8 strike out 4-1 win over the Allen Eagle JV. Allen is from one of the 5A districts. Samantha Betts chosen to be member of Ryan High PALS
The 2008-2009 PALS team was announced on Friday March 14 and Samantha was named a new team member. The team is a service group at Ryan High. The following comes from their website.
The PALS (Peer Assistance, Leadership, and Service) are young people who help other kids.

The Ryan Raider JV team was in a hole lot of trouble going into the bottom of the 3rd inning at home on Tuesday night. The offense dug starting pitcher Samantha Bridges out of a4 to 1 deficit with a big 5 run inning sparked by an RBI single from Samantha Betts. Sophomore Samantha Betts is off to a quick start for her 2008 High School Season. She is 6-3 with an era of only .98 to go along with 57 strike outs in 32 innings. Samantha is also tearing up the offensive side of the the game. She is bating 471 and carrying an on base percentage of 823. |

The Ryan Raider JV team got back on the winning band wagon last night on the strength of 3-0 shutout and no-hitter pitched by Samantha Betts. The Raiders got all the run support needed in the first inning. Samantha had 8 strike outs with only one walk in the four inning game at Denton Ryan. The team remains a little loose on defense as the committed 5 errors on the night. The JV's next action will be next Tuesday at Ryan against 3A power Burkburnett. |
Double Duty for the night
You don't see this to often in High School. Pitch one game then put on the hardware and get behind the plate. But that's just what I did last night in Lewisville to help my team Denton Ryan win back to back games. I pitched the JV to a 4-1 win then helped the Varsity complete the sweep with Tara Tague doing the pitching. I was a little rusty but had a great time doing some catching again. The varsity has been hit by the flu bug this week. Go Raiders!!!! |

The Denton Ryan softball teams will be playing Lewisville and McKinney High School teams over the next two evenings. Samantha will be pitching against the Lewisville JV and catching the varsity game. Fort Worth Batbusters - Sonny continued their Fall season with a successful 3-1-1 outing in the Elite Diamond Showcase in McKinney, Texas. On the Road Again
Fort Worth Batbusters - Sonny is heading on the road again. The weekend of December 1 & 2, we will travel to Houston to participate in a NAFA 18u A National Qualifer being held by Hit Away Gold. This will be our last tournament of the Fall Season.
We just completed a successful weekend in Grand Praire going 4 and 1 in the Pre-Thanksgiving Elite Showcase. |
