A girls softball team hit by a suspected drunk driver on the way to a championship game

A girl's softball team on its way to a national championship in Las Vegas collides with a suspected drunk driver.
The Pumas from Ventura County were determined to play their hearts out at a national softball championship taking place in Las Vegas but on their way to the game something horrible happened.
Troopers say a suspected drunk driver in a silver car was speeding and slammed into the van carrying about 15 girls.
"Everyone was just freaking out we all were trying to get out of the van," says Stephanie Lord, an injured player.
A hand full of the players suffered cuts and minor injuries
"I love my team, oh it hurts to laugh," says Demi Meza an injured played who scored a home run during the championship game.
The coaches wanted to cancel the game but the Pumas disagreed and voted to play in the championship game.
Jim Wike was very emotional over the incident and coached with a broken arm
"These guys did great I am very proud of them," says Jim Wike Head Coach for the Pumas.
And so were the parents.
"They moved a mountain to get here," says Bill Flartey a parent of one of the players.
These teens say they learned many life lessons today.
"We all came out here we all had heart," says Meza.
"It shows that we are really close and we weren't going to let a drunk driver take this away from us." says Lord.
Troopers say they plan to arrest and charge the driver of the silver car with DUI as soon as he is released from the hospital.
As for the Pumas, the team went into the championship game undefeated but still took home third place.
