Erika Hoffner was honored as the Defensive Player of the Year at the Chattahoochee High School Softball Awards Banquet on November 4th. Hoffner is the starting short stop and lead-off hitter for the Alpharetta, GA school. After a stellar season highlighted by clutch play all over the infield and at times into the outfield, Hoffner was voted the best defensive player by the coaching staff.
Erika shined at the plate also during her sophomore season where the lefty-slapper batted lead-off and hit .320 with a .412 on-base percentage. She led the team in total hits and stolen bases.
The returning starter and second-year letterman also received the Chattahoochee HS Hustle Award for her tenacious effort on the field for a second year in a row. Erika's third award of the night was the Scholar Athlete Award as she maintained a 4.0 GPA while playing varsity sports.
Erika will be showcased next spring and summer as her travel team, the Atlanta Worth Cobras, will play exposure tournaments and ASA qualifiers throughout the southeast.
