I have been a tournament softball pitcher since I was eight years old. I also played for the DeLand, FL. Little League team until I was thirteen. I have played high school softball since the eighth grade and have been a part of the varsity squad since the ninth grade. I am currently the starting pitcher on the varsity team. I want to pursue a college career in softball and incorporate either reading or writing into my career. I also enjoy history, so that may also be a possibility for a collegiate major, moving into anthropology & archaeology.

    Coach Evaluations:

Lacie is a very dedicated and determined young lady whose heart is sincerely engulfed in the game of softball. I have tremendous reverence for her work ethic and her desire to be the best. Lacie commands respect from each batter when she takes the mound simply because of her control and dominant state of mind while competing. She is a very consistent pitcher who misses spots very rarely and has a strong arsenal of pitches to keep batters off balance. She also has an excellent capacity to battle back when down and to come back immediately after an opposing hit. Additionally, she is a very strong presence on the field and is a great a leader for her teammates. Lacie is an extremely strong defensive first- baseman as well, both mentally and physically. There is never a doubt that a play will be made when Lacie is at first. Offensively, Lacie has a very consistent stick and is often looked at for clutch hits. Her competitiveness from the mound certainly carries over to the batter’s box, as she is typically a very smart batter and is in control in the box. I look forward to seeing the improvements that Lacie will continue to make throughout her last two seasons of high school and travel ball. I have no doubt in my mind that she will make an excellent addition to any team in the future.

It is with great pleasure that I have been given the opportunity to coach Lacie Perry throughout her high school career. My name is Josh Ebert and I have been the head softball coach at Taylor High School for the past 3 years. Before that I was the assistant coach for the previous 7. With 10 years of coaching experience under my belt, I can honestly say that Lacie Perry is one of the hardest and most dedicated players I have ever coached. She is very committed to becoming the best player she can be and shows this by playing softball year round. She also has attended a variety of camps and clinics to help improve and refine her abilities. Lacie has been my varsity pitcher her freshman and sophomore seasons. As an eighth grader she was our JV pitcher and was capable of pitching on the varsity level but due to county regulations was limited to JV work. Her overall record on varsity is 15-11. She has pitched 176 innings and has 174 strikeouts with only walking 42. Her ERA is a 2.25. Hitting wise she is also outstanding. Lacie is a very good contact hitter. During the past two seasons she has only struck out 7 times in 104 at bats, with six of those coming as a freshman. Her batting average during this time is .368. Some of the awards she has earned are Rookie of the Year for the Varsity Team, Outstanding Pitcher for the Varsity Team and Lacie was voted on to the 2nd team All Volusia County team as a Sophomore. Academically, Lacie is outstanding. She is a member of the AVID program and is enrolled in many honors classes. She currently is in the top 15 students in her class. I can honestly say that as her coach, she is one of the players I never have to worry about academically succeeding. All in all, I hope this letter paints the appropriate picture of what a fantastic player, student, and person Lacie Perry is. I have no doubt she will succeed wherever she ends up playing ball.

    Scouting Report:

Lacie Perry is a hard working pitcher and all round fastpitch softball player. Lacie can and does throw 5 spin pitches: Curve, Rise, Screw Ball, Drop ball, and 3 different variations of the change up. This past summer (2008), Lacie's travel ball team was short handed of pitchers several times and she had to throw 3 games in one day. I witnessed one of the tournaments and she pitched brilliantly all three games in 90 + degree heat. Lacie's spins are good at this age and should only get better as she matures. Being a Florida kid, she is has been throwing from 43' since her freshman year in high school. As a student, Lacie ranks near the top of her class, and although she has not taken the SAT or ACT yet, she does rate a level 5 (highest) on the state mandated FCAT test. Lacie is a good prospect to put on your radar screen for evaluation in 2009. Please take a look at her skills video and keep up with her monthly scouting reports. If you need any additional information on Lacie, please contact her or Dave Johnson at National Scouting Report.
