Alvarez Tosses 5 Inning Shutout

Kirstie Alvarez, 2015

Alvarez comes in to stop the scoring...

Crusaders gets more hits, but not more runs in 7-6 loss to Suffern

Crusaders won the hit battle 6-5 on Monday, but couldn't push enough runs across to get the win, instead losing 7-6 in four innings to Suffern at Suffern High School.

Kira Purcell had a hot bat for Crusaders. Purcell went 2-2, drove in one and scored one run. She singled in the first inning and doubled in the second inning.

Kirstie Alvarez baffled Suffern, striking out six batters. Crusaders' pitcher tossed five innings of shutout ball and allowed only three hits.

The top of the first saw Crusaders take an early lead, 3-0. Alvarez kicked things off for Crusaders with a single. A stolen base then moved Alvarez from first to second. Jennifer Lawson tripled, plating Alvarez, Purcell and Meagan Blair.

Suffern scored three runs of its own in the first. Suffern scored on a sacrifice fly by #15, an RBI triple by #24, and a wild pitch.

Suffern never trailed after scoring four runs in the second on an error and a groundout by Player A.
