Ninemire Elected into 2009 NFCA Hall of Fame Class
California softball head coach Diane Ninemire was announced as one of three members to be inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's 2009 Hall of Fame class on Saturday. The announcement was made at the NFCA's annual convention being held at the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort in Marco Island, Florida.

Cal Softball to Host Winter Showcase
California softball coach Diane Ninemire announced that the Golden Bears will host a Winter Showcase designed for players who are looking to develop their skills for competitive softball. The Showcase (Jan. 31, 2009) is ideal for athletes focused on playing the game at the highest levels. Hitting, fielding, throwing, pitching, base running, and all other aspects of the game will be featured.

Cal Softball Inks Three Recruits for the 2009-10 Season
Three California high school standouts - pitcher Jolene Henderson, infielder Jordan Wallace and catcher Lindsey Ziegenhirt - have signed National Letters of Intent to join the University of California softball program for the 2009-10 season, Golden Bears head coach Diane Ninemire announced Wednesday.

Cal Softball Announces Bat Girl Opportunities for Home Games
The California softball program is inviting girls (elementary through middle school) to be designated bat girls for the 2009 season at Levine-Fricke Field. Due to NCAA restrictions those that have started high school are not eligible to be a bat girl.

Cal Softball Begins Fall Exhibition Play on Sunday
The California Golden Bear softball team opens its fall preseason schedule on Sunday, Sept. 28 vs. Stanislaus at 1:00 p.m. at Levine-Fricke Field.

Former Golden Bears Represented in the Championship Series of the National Pro Fastpitch League
Former California softball players Kristina Thorson (Chicago Bandits), Emily Friedman and Chelsea Spencer (Philadelphia Force) and Alex Sutton, Jocelyn Forest and Lisa Iancin of the New England Riptide will all be competing for the 2008 National Pro Fastpitch League crown, Aug. 22-24 in Kimberly, Wis.

Cal Softball Announces Open Tryouts and Bat Girl Opportunities
The nationally-ranked California softball team made two announcements on Thursday - the first is an opportunity for Cal students to compete for a chance to walk-on the team via tryouts and the second is an opportunity for young women to be the "bat girl" for home games at Levine-Fricke Field.

Olympic Q&A with Vicky Galindo
CalBears.com spoke to California alumna Vicky Galindo about her dream of competing in the Olympics. After breaking her arm on Feb. 19, 2008, she rebounded and was named to the 2008 U.S. Olympic team on March 28. A member of the national squad since 2005, the Union City, Calif., product has played second and third base for the United States. She also plays professionally for the Chicago Bandits of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league along with former Cal teammate Kristina Thorson.

The California softball coaching staff announced on Tuesday that is still room available for their Advanced Camps (June 16-19 and June 23-26) and their Skills Camp, July 21-24.

Drewrey, Hensley Named to Pac-10 Academic Team
Sophomore Marissa Drewrey and junior Savannah Hensley of the California softball team was chosen as a Pac-10 All-Academic Honorable Mentions, as announced by league commissioner Tom Hansen this week. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and either be a starter or significant contributor.

Florida Closes Out California in the Gainesville Super Regional
The No. 1-ranked Florida Gators advanced to the Women's College World Series after a nail biting 4-2 victory (in nine innings) over the California Golden Bears in the NCAA Softball Super Regional elimination game at Pressly Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Cal ends its season at 43-27.

The No. 1-ranked Florida Gators are one win away from appearing in the Women's College World Series after defeating the California Golden Bears, 4-2 in the NCAA Softball Super Regional at Pressly Softball Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Cal Travels to Gainesville for a Super Regional Showdown with the No. 1 Gators
The California Golden Bears (43-25) take on the No. 1-ranked and top-seeded Florida Gators (65-3) in the NCAA Super Regional in Gainesville, Fla., May 23-24. Cal earned its way to the Super Regional by defeating Fresno State, 7-6, in a deciding game seven in the Fresno Regional on Sunday, while the Gators coasted past Central Florida, 10-0, in their game seven (Gainesville Regional) also on Sunday.

California advanced to its third ever NCAA Super Regional after a 7-6 deciding game seven victory over the Fresno State Bulldogs in nine innings in the Fresno Regional on Sunday evening at Bulldog Stadium. Cal (43-25) travels to Gainesville to take on the top-seeded Florida Gators (65-3), May 23-24. The NCAA went to a Super Regional format beginning in 2005.

Fresno State Forces a Game Seven
The Fresno State Bulldogs avoided elimination and forced a game seven after their 3-2 win over California on Sunday afternoon in the Fresno Regional. Game seven will start approximately at 3:41 p.m. The winner of game seven advances to Gainesville to face the top-seeded Florida Gators in the NCAA Super Regional.
