Five Stanford Players Named To Pac-10 All-Academic Teams
Junior pitcher Missy Penna headlined a group of five Stanford players who were named to the Pac-10 All-Academic Softball Teams today, with the Cardinal ace earning a spot on the first team. Sophomore Shannon Koplitz and seniors Anna Beardman and Tricia Aggabao were named to the second team, while senior Michelle Smith earned honorable mention.
Haber, Penna Named Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Americans
Stanford pitcher Missy Penna and outfielder Alissa Haber were named to the 2008 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America Third Team, when the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the Division I selections today. The 12th-seeded Stanford softball team battled to the finish, but, in the end, couldn't overcome the big bats of the fifth-seeded Texas A&M Aggies. Playing in front of a packed house at the Aggie Softball Stadium in College Station, Texas A&M recorded 13 hits, and earned a 9-4 win to advance to the 2008 Women's College World Series.
